The Cube returned to ITV in August of this year, a year after the show was first rebooted following its ending in 2015.
Returning for a six-part series plus two celebrity specials, the show will see the return of hopeful pairs competing to beat The Cube and win a considerable amount of money.
Returning as the host, Phillip Schofield said about the show: ‘It was such a treat to be back in the studio last year, with the pairs of contestants adding a whole new twist on the drama inside the box.
‘This series you’ll see a whole new side to The Cube… get ready to be on the edge of your sofas!’
But does The Cube work, how much can people win and how can you apply to be on the show?
Contestants, working in teams of two, have the chance to win a cash prize of up to £250,000 if they can complete various mental and physical challenges from within the 4m × 4m × 4m Perspex cube.
Each pair has nine lives to complete seven games, each worth an increasing amount of money, as they move closer to the £250,000 jackpot.
The prize money used to be up to £1 million, when the series was known as The Million Pound Cube.
Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment Commissioning at ITV added: ‘The Cube remains a firm favourite with our viewers and with the brilliant Phillip Schofield at the helm, it’s guaranteed to be another great series packed with drama, tension and entertainment.’
The answer to this is… sort of.
Since The Cube’s first run on air back in 2009, no one has ever beaten The Cube and taken the full prize money in the normal episodes of the show.
However, in the celebrity version held for charity, Mo Farah did manage to win the top prize.
The application form for the current series of The Cube closed on Friday 30th April.
The application form stated: ‘Due to Covid-19 BOTH APPLICANTS must be currently living in the same household or be part of the same household support bubble.’
